Al-Ghanimi Stresses The Need To Keep The Security Establishment Away From Elections And Electoral Propaganda

Baghdad Interior Minister Othman Al-Ghanimi stressed the need to keep the security establishment away from the elections and electoral propaganda.

Al-Ghanimi said from Al-Muthanna Governorate, which he arrived this morning: “The escape of the detainees in Muthanna, was due to the weakness of the security side of the guards,” stressing the need to keep the security establishment away from the elections and electoral propaganda.

It is mentioned that Twenty-one prisoners, who had been convicted of terrorism and drug trafficking cases, escaped from Al-Hilal prison in Al-Muthanna Governorate at dawn yesterday.

The security forces have been mobilized in the governorate and a wide search operation has begun for them, while the Ministry of Interior announced yesterday evening that 18 of them had been arrested .

Interior Minister Othman Al-Ghanimi held a meeting with police commanders of a number of governorates in Al-Muthanna Governorate, which he arrived this morning.

A statement by the media office of the Minister of Interior stated: “Al-Ghanimi held a meeting with Dhi Qar, Maysan, Basra Police Commanders and directors of anti-drug, traffic and intelligence services in these governorates, in the presence of the commander of operations and the governor of Muthanna.”
