Baghdad: Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, and Head of the Al-Azm Alliance, Muthanna al-Samarrai, have underscored the importance of unifying national positions and advancing the constitutional process. This emphasis comes ahead of the presidential election scheduled for tomorrow during the parliamentary session.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the State of Law Coalition released a statement indicating that al-Maliki hosted al-Samarrai and a delegation of parliament members from the Al-Azm Alliance at his office. The meeting focused on fulfilling constitutional requirements pertinent to the upcoming phase.
The statement further noted that both leaders stressed the need for unified national positions and adherence to the constitutional path. This is particularly significant as the parliament prepares to elect the President of the Republic, a pivotal step towards the formation of constitutional authorities and ensuring the proper functioning of institutions.
