Al-Sudani Chairs Reconstruction and Investment Committee Meeting


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired the periodic meeting of the Higher Committee for Reconstruction and Investment today, Sunday. During the session, discussions centered on ongoing investment projects and the status of investment opportunities across Baghdad and the wider region of Iraq.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting resulted in the adoption of several decisions pertaining to investment projects in sectors such as industry, housing, and services. Specifically, approval was granted to refer housing projects for members of the Ministry of Defense in the regions of Basra and Nineveh.



Additionally, the committee approved a new model for public benefit from investments, focusing on the state’s share in housing units within new residential complexes and city projects. This model involves the investor’s implementation of infrastructure service projects, equivalent to the state’s previously approved share. Initial projects under this model will include the rehabilitation and expansion of streets in Sadr City, located east of Baghdad.



The committee also addressed the issue of establishing a new headquarters for the Union of Arab Historians in Baghdad. The Prime Minister directed that the file be resolved by preparing a suitable headquarters, considering factors such as area, location, and design.
