Al-Sudani Commends Martyrs for Preventing Iraq’s Disintegration

Baghdad: Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, affirmed that the sacrifices of the martyrs served as a solid barrier that prevented Iraq from slipping into uncertainty and fragmentation, stressing that these sacrifices laid the foundation for victory over terrorism and the consolidation of stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani's media office reported that he received a number of families of the martyrs of the armed forces on Wednesday. These families represent all branches and formations of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the Counter Terrorism Service, the Popular Mobilization Commission, the National Security Service, and the Iraqi National Intelligence Service. The meeting marked the eighth anniversary of the victory over ISIS and the declaration of Victory Day.

During the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to the families of the martyrs, acknowledging the significant sacrifices made by these heroes in defense of the nation. He noted that the victory over extremism and criminality came at a high cost, paid with the blood of the martyrs, ultimately ending the era of ISIS.

Al-Sudani emphasized that martyrs hold a lofty and distinguished status, granted only to those chosen by Almighty God. He highlighted the ongoing path of sacrifice and martyrdom in the fight against injustice, dictatorship, and terrorism.

He further explained that ISIS was part of a broader project targeting the state and the region, supported by certain countries and intelligence agencies. The current security, stability, recovery, and reconstruction efforts in Iraq are all attributed to the sacrifices of the martyrs.

The Prime Minister underscored the state's responsibility to fulfill its obligations, especially toward the families of the martyrs. He noted that directives have been issued to address any shortcomings or delays in meeting their needs and entitlements, affirming that these rights are guaranteed and are neither a favor nor a privilege.
