Ankara: An attack on commercial ships in the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk confirms Ankara's fears of war spread. The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that the attack on commercial ships in the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk confirms Ankara's fears that the current war will spread to the Black Sea. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that an attack targeted the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk on Friday, resulting in damage to a foreign ship belonging to a Turkish company. The ministry emphasized that this attack validates their previously expressed concerns regarding the expansion of the ongoing war in the region to the Black Sea, impacting maritime security and freedom of navigation. The ministry explained that initial reports indicated the evacuation of the ship's crew and truck drivers on board, with no injuries reported among Turkish citizens as a result of the attack. The Consul General in Odessa is closely monitoring developments and providing necessar y support to affected Turkish citizens. The statement further highlighted the importance of urgently ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and reiterated the need for arrangements aimed at de-escalation in the Black Sea. This includes suspending attacks that target maritime security, energy facilities, and port infrastructure on both sides.
