Baghdad: Atletico Madrid Atletico Madrid announced on Saturday the signing of Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand from Sporting Lisbon on a contract until June 30, 2031. The club stated that the 27-year-old has joined the first team after reaching an agreement with Sporting Lisbon regarding his transfer.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hjulmand joined Sporting Lisbon in 2023, making 141 appearances in all competitions and contributing to their Portuguese league titles in the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons, as well as the Portuguese Cup in the 2024-2025 season.

The defensive midfielder is characterized by his physical strength, ball-winning ability, excellent reading of the game, accurate passing, and ability to build attacks from midfield. The signing of Hjulmand is part of Atl©tico Madrid's efforts to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window, in preparation for competing strongly in all competitions.
