Baghdad Operations Command Shuts Down Factory and Removes 47 Metal Smelting Sites

Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has announced the closure of a paint manufacturing plant and the removal of 47 unlicensed metal smelting sites, alongside the arrest of several violators.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command revealed in a press release that this initiative is part of an ongoing effort to mitigate environmental pollution caused by emissions and odors from production processes. The operation aligns with the objectives of a committee established under Diwani Order (241285), which is responsible for inspecting and closing unlicensed factories, plants, and metal smelting furnaces.

The press release further detailed that the committee, working in collaboration with the National Security Service, the Rusafa Environmental Police, the Baghdad Environment Directorate, and the New Baghdad Municipality, has taken decisive action against facilities that breach regulations and standards. These actions are intended to protect the health and safety of citizens affected by harmful emissions. The operations led to the arrest of several violators in the Al-Ubaidi area, located east of the capital.
