Baghdad - The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani said that Iran can play a positive role to resolve outstanding problems between the governments of Baghdad and the Kurdistan region.
A statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said that "Barzani received yesterday evening Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Erj Masjedi, the Iranian Consul General in Erbil and the accompanying delegation."
Barzani expressed thanks for the assistance and support provided by Iran to the people of Kurdistan in the most difficult circumstances, praising relations between Erbil and Tehran, wishing success to the Iranian ambassador in the performance of his duties as ambassador to his country in Iraq.
The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, according to the statement, pointed to the outstanding problems between Arbil and Baghdad, stressing that they need for serious dialogues, and Iran can play a positive role in this matter.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to the war against organization and the latest developments and changes in the region and the future of the region.
For his part, Masjedi said during the meeting that "as Iran was helping the Kurdistan region in difficult times, it will seek in any way to resolve all the outstanding problems between Baghdad and the region through dialogue," stressing the good relations linking the Kurdistan region and Iran.
