Brussels: Belgian star J©r©my Doku has stirred controversy with his announcement to leave the "Red Devils" camp if his wife's due date coincides with the World Cup in early July. Doku's commitment to his family has been clear, with him stating, "No father in the world would want to miss a moment like this."
According to Iraqi News Agency, Doku's decision has been met with a sharp backlash, particularly from the French media. France Perron, a presenter, expressed her astonishment and disapproval of Doku's potential decision to leave such a prestigious tournament. She questioned, "When fate smiles upon you to participate in the World Cup, at a time when hundreds of players are ready to do anything to be in your place, would you leave all that to witness the birth of your child?"
Perron's criticism did not end there. She made further comments that were described as shocking and offensive. "Excuse me, but childbirth is a difficult moment, and the father has no use or role in it; he's merely an extra or plays a marginal, insignificant part," she added.
Perron also argued that attending the birth could negatively impact Doku's performance in the World Cup. "You'll waste 10 hours of your time, you'll be exhausted, and you'll suffer a severe emotional shock that will completely take you out of the World Cup atmosphere and your focus on the tournament," she stated.
