Babylon: A Christmas Mass was held today, Friday, at the Church of the Virgin Mary in Hillah, attended by several representatives from the local government in Babylon.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of Babylon Provincial Council, Asaad al-Muslawi, stated that Babil hosts approximately twenty Christian families who are supported by the local government. The Mass was conducted following the completion of restoration work on the church, which was reopened today.

Al-Muslawi also mentioned that the Babylon Provincial Council is in the process of discussing the allocation of land to construct a church for Christians in the Middle Euphrates region.
