Bogot¡: Colombian President Gustavo Petro has voiced concerns over what he perceives as the United States’ attempt to transform Latin American countries into colonies. In a statement on his X account, President Petro asserted that the core of US foreign policy is geared towards the colonization of these nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Petro specifically criticized the policies of former US President Donald Trump, equating them to the aggressive expansionist strategies of Adolf Hitler during Nazi Germany. He emphasized that the Monroe Doctrine, under Trump’s administration, aims to transform the independent states of Latin America into US colonies.

President Petro further condemned Trump’s approach as a violation of international law, drawing parallels to Hitler’s ‘Lebensraum’ doctrine, which was a significant factor in the outbreak of two world wars. Petro’s comments highlight ongoing tensions and differing perspectives on foreign policy between the US and Latin American leaders.
