Dawa Party Urges Effective Mechanism for Prime Minister Selection

Baghdad: The Islamic Dawa Party has called for a productive approach to resolving the selection of the Prime Minister, emphasizing the importance of creating a mechanism that will effectively address the decision. This statement comes as the party commemorates the significant events of the 17th of Rajab, 1979, when an uprising against the Ba’ath regime took place in response to the arrest of the esteemed Islamic scholar, Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Dawa Party released a press statement highlighting the impact of the Rajab uprising, which compelled the Ba’ath regime to release Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and allow his return to Najaf. The uprising is described as a pivotal moment that marked resistance against the regime’s oppressive policies and its concentration of power, sparking a revolution that eventually led to Iraq’s liberation from the regime’s control.

The party’s statement further expressed the citizens’ expectations for the largest parliamentary bloc to finalize its choice for the premiership through an effective process. The statement also conveyed hopes that the forthcoming government would be equipped to tackle both internal and external challenges, demonstrating the competence, integrity, and experience that are abundant within Iraqi society.
