Basra: The Human Rights Office in Basra announced the death of an inmate serving a life sentence at Basra General Teaching Hospital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the office stated in a press release: “The inmate, a 55-year-old resident of Basra, was serving a sentence under Article 406 and died due to kidney failure.”

It added: “The police and forensic evidence teams conducted an investigation, and the body was transferred to the forensic medicine department.”
