Cairo:The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is working to resolve a conflict between national team captain Mohamed Salah and the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan. The disagreement arose after Salah was substituted in the 60th minute of a match against Angola during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which concluded in a goalless draw.
According to Iraqi News Agency, EFA President Hany Abo Rida plans to visit Salah, who currently plays for Trabzonspor in Turkey, to address the situation. The visit aims to reconcile Salah’s perspective with the coaching staff’s, ensuring his participation in the next training camp.
The substitution decision made by Hossam Hassan was described as tactical and not injury-related. Egyptian journalist Ahmed Abdel Baset reported on the platform X that the visit is intended to mend the relationship between Salah and the coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan and his brother, team director Ibrahim Hassan.
