Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky. The Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate stated in a statement that Erdogan and Zelensky discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Ukraine and regional and international issues in a phone call today.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish President praised the progress made in the Istanbul negotiations, expressing his hope for achieving significant results regarding the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan affirmed his country's readiness to host a leaders' summit, noting that the formation of working groups in the military, humanitarian, and political fields will pave the way for the summit. He reaffirmed Turkey's continued support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Istanbul hosted the third round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on July 23. Istanbul had previously hosted two rounds of negotiations last May and June, which resulted in agreements regarding the release of thousands of prisoners from both sides.
