New York:Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan highlighted Turkey’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation and partnership with Iraq, aiming for increased development and prosperity. He advocated for shifting the bilateral dialogue focus from terrorism to the ‘Development Road’ project and increasing trade.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan addressed reporters in New York during the UN General Assembly, expressing a firm resolve with the “People’s Alliance” and the Turkish state to achieve a “terrorism-free Turkey.” He noted the positive progress in domestic efforts against terrorism.

Erdogan also proposed reforming the UN Security Council by abolishing the veto mechanism to create a more inclusive system. He suggested empowering the General Assembly to allow all UN members to propose solutions and make decisions on global issues.

In addressing the Gulf region’s situation, Erdogan urged concerned parties to return to negotiations, emphasizing the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for dialogue-based resolutions.

He further discussed efforts to re-establish the Black Sea grain corridor, noting a positive response from Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.

Regarding Turkish-American relations, Erdogan mentioned that cooperation has improved under President Trump, who has shown a positive stance on Turkey’s return to the F-35 fighter jet program. Erdogan awaits concrete actions following these discussions.
