Basra: Following reports of an explosion near the border, the head of security for the Basra Provincial Council inspected the Shalamcheh border crossing and confirmed that passenger traffic continues. The head of the security committee in the Basra Provincial Council, Dr. Aqeel Talib Al-Fariji, conducted a field visit to the Shalamcheh border crossing after hearing an explosion near the border area.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Fariji explained in a press statement that the explosion occurred inside Iranian territory, confirming that the security situation at the crossing is stable and there are no direct threats. He indicated that operations at the crossing are continuing normally, both for travelers arriving from Iran and for Iranians returning to their country, noting that the temporary suspension was only for a short period as a precautionary measure.
Al-Fariji called on the media to be accurate in reporting information, to rely on official and reliable sources, and not to be swayed by rumors that could cause anxiety among citizens and travelers.
