Faihan and Minister of Environment Launch Campaign Against Water Hyacinth in Babylon

Babylon: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, and the Minister of Environment, Sarwa Abdul Wahid, have initiated a national campaign in the Sadda al-Hindiya district of Babil Governorate to combat the invasive water hyacinth.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan highlighted that the water hyacinth poses a significant threat to Iraq's water resources, particularly in the Middle Euphrates region. He announced the commencement of a large-scale campaign, organized in collaboration with various organizations and volunteer teams, aimed at cleaning the waterways.

Minister Abdul Wahid emphasized the ministry's commitment to the campaign despite limited resources. She noted the enthusiasm and widespread participation from local governments and citizens, all working together to clear the riverbeds of this invasive species.
