Baghdad The head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh Al-Fayyad, met in the Russian capital, Moscow, with the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
A statement by his office stated, “Al-Fayyad discussed with Patrushev issues of regional security, as well as prospects for bilateral interaction and cooperation between Iraq and Russia.” During the meeting, they discussed the close development of Iraqi-Russian relations that meet the common interests of the two countries, and the readiness to expand contacts and cooperation in the field of security.
Fayyad also discussed in another meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov the main aspects of the Middle East agenda and joint coordination for combating international terrorism.
The statement indicated that the Russian side affirmed its position in support of the unity and sovereignty of Iraq.
