New York:Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the significance of resuming direct flights between Iraq and Azerbaijan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussion took place during a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Fuad Hussein on his reappointment as Foreign Minister and the formation of the new Iraqi government.

The meeting focused on the bilateral relations between the two nations, with both ministers highlighting that direct flights would enhance communication and cooperation between their peoples. Additionally, Fuad Hussein emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s participation in the upcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministerial meeting in Baghdad, which aims to improve coordination and consultation among member states on issues of mutual interest.

Both ministers also exchanged views on regional developments and tensions, underscoring the need to support international efforts to contain crises, reduce tensions, and prevent further escalation.
