Halboussi Calls His Bahraini Counterpart, Says: The Govt Has Taken Firm And Immediate Measures To Prosecute The Perpetrators Of The Attack On The Embassy

BAGHDAD Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi confirmed that the Iraqi government has taken all decisive and immediate measures to arrest the perpetrators of the assault on the Bahraini embassy in Baghdad to refer them to the judiciary, and provide the necessary protection for the embassy building and that it will not tolerate such attacks.

"The right to demonstrate is legitimate in all democratic systems, but the attack on diplomatic missions and facilities and the safety of its security for Iraq is a red line and cannot be allowed to be touched at all," Halboussi said during a telephone conversation with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain Fawzia Abdullah Zainal." Added "There is an official and popular condemnation of such illegal practices, which threaten diplomatic missions, their security and the safety of their personnel."

He added "we hope such illegal acts would not affect Iraq's relations with the Arab countries in general and the Kingdom of Bahrain in particular, especially after the achievement of significant steps by Iraq in its openness to its Arab and regional environment," stressing the continued efforts of the House of Representatives to strengthen relations with parliaments of Arab, Asian and international countries to serve the peoples.
