Baghdad: Humam Hamoudi, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, engaged in discussions with Hossein Samaei Sarraf, the Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, focusing on enhancing academic and research collaboration between Iraq and Iran, alongside exploring the establishment of science parks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting involved detailed conversations about the trajectories of university education in both countries, with a shared vision for its advancement. The discussions also covered potential cooperation avenues and the exchange of expertise and experiences between Iraqi and Iranian academic institutions.

Sheikh Hamoudi highlighted the importance of intellectual development as a cornerstone for national strength. He stressed the need to prepare creative and innovative youth, referencing the early vision of the martyred Ayatollah Khamenei, which has contributed to the strength of the Islamic Republic. Hamoudi expressed optimism about the possibility of twinning some Iraqi universities with their Iranian counterparts, enhancing cultural and research exchanges, and overcoming administrative challenges.

The dialogue also focused on adopting the science park model, which aims to transform research into practical products, stimulate innovation, and boost the labor market. Such initiatives are seen as crucial steps towards fostering a vibrant academic and research environment between the two nations.
