Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced that a Federal Police force arrested nine gunmen involved in an attack on a gas station worker in Al-Shaab district of eastern Baghdad. The Ministry stated in a press release: “The gunmen claimed affiliation with the Saraya al-Salam (Peace Brigades) and were arrested after an exchange of fire with security forces.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the security force responded immediately upon receiving a report of the incident. They encountered armed resistance from the suspects, leading to an exchange of fire. The security forces managed to control the situation and arrest nine of those involved without any casualties among the security forces.
Investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances and motives behind the incident, and to take the necessary legal measures against those arrested. The Ministry emphasized that the security forces are committed to enforcing the law, protecting citizens, and dealing firmly with any transgression that threatens security and stability.
