Interior Ministry Reports Security Clash in Dhi Qar: Officer Injured, Nine Suspects Arrested


Dhi qar: The Ministry of Interior announced that one officer was wounded, nine suspects were arrested, and weapons and a vehicle were seized following a security clash in Al-Gharraf district of Dhi Qar Governorate.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a joint security force comprising the Al-Gharraf Police Department, the 4th Emergency Regiment, and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Dhi Qar Governorate Police Command executed a security operation targeting individuals wanted under Article (406) of the Penal Code in the Al-Talahba area. Upon arrival, the security forces encountered direct fire from four suspects who attempted to flee in a pickup truck, prompting a response and pursuit by the authorities.



The operation led to the arrest of five additional suspects who tried to assist the perpetrators in their escape, increasing the total number of arrests to nine. Searches of the suspects’ homes resulted in the seizure of four Kalashnikov rifles, a G3 rifle, a pistol, and the vehicle used in the escape. One security officer with the rank of commissioner sustained minor head injuries from shrapnel during the clash and was treated at Nasiriyah General Hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.



Legal procedures have been initiated against the arrested individuals and the confiscated items by the Al-Gharraf Police Department and the relevant police station for judicial processing.
