Riyadh: The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia, Abbas Araqchi and Faisal bin Farhan, engaged in a crucial phone conversation to discuss the escalating tensions in the region, following recent military confrontations between Tehran and Washington.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this dialogue is part of a series of intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing the aftermath of the military escalation that has unfolded over the past two days. During the call, Araqchi and bin Farhan exchanged insights on the impact of the ongoing military actions initiated by both Washington and Tehran.
The situation in the region has reached a critical point, with US forces conducting two waves of extensive airstrikes that targeted around 170 Iranian military sites. In retaliation, Tehran launched missile and drone attacks on US bases located in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
This diplomatic engagement is part of broader efforts led by Qatar. The country’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has been actively involved in similar discussions, holding calls with both Faisal bin Farhan and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to mitigate the escalating situation.
