Baghdad / NINA / The Minister of Interior, Othman Al-Ghanmi, met today, Saturday, with the Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs (Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi). In the meeting, according to a statement by the ministry, a number of issues of common interest were discussed, foremost of which was coordination and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the security field. The Minister of Interior affirmed that this visit is important and that we are proud of the fact that the Republic of Pakistan is one of the Islamic and friendly countries, pointing out that there are many ties between the two countries. Al-Ghanimi indicated that Pakistan has experience in combating terrorism, as in Iraq. For his part, the Pakistani minister stressed the importance of continuing effective cooperation in various fields, including security, economic, and trade, as well as international positions, and expressed his country’s readiness to train Iraqi cadres. The meeting also discussed the issue of drug control, cooperation in eliminating it, and the exchange of experiences in combating crime in its various forms. They also discussed coordination regarding religious and other visits, facilitating the entry of citizens from both countries, and the importance of having reciprocal visits. /
