Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr al-Ulum, welcomed Elizabeth Trudeau, Deputy Chief of the US Mission to Iraq, along with her delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad. Their discussions centered on enhancing bilateral relations across multiple sectors of shared interest.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on Iraq’s commitment to advancing cooperation in areas such as energy, electricity, economy, education, health, technology transfer, and capacity building. Bahr al-Ulum emphasized the significance of the Higher Coordination Committee meetings, which are part of the Strategic Framework Agreement. He urged for these meetings to be convened promptly and for the activation of new collaboration mechanisms that align with mutual interests and Iraq’s progress in security, economic, and developmental fields.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of exchanging official visits between the two nations, which are seen as vital for strengthening bilateral cooperation. Preparations for several forthcoming visits were also part of the agenda.
Trudeau conveyed the United States’ willingness to boost bilateral cooperation, reiterating the US government’s support for Iraq’s efforts. She acknowledged Iraq’s significant role in fostering regional stability.
