Iraq Braces for Rising Temperatures and Increased Dust Levels


Baghdad: Weather forecasters predict increased dust and rising temperatures in the coming days. The Meteorological Authority has forecasted changes in weather patterns, highlighting an increase in dust and a rise in temperatures across the country.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Meteorological Authority indicated that Wednesday’s weather will be clear nationwide, accompanied by light to moderate northwesterly winds, which will become more active in the southern region, reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h. The temperatures are expected to be slightly lower than the previous day, with maximum temperatures specified for each governorate: Baghdad, Diyala, and Karbala are expected to reach 42°C; Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah 37°C; Erbil 39°C; Nineveh, Kirkuk, and Anbar 40°C; Salah al-Din 41°C; Najaf and Babylon 43°C; Wasit and Diwaniyah 44°C; Muthanna 45°C; Maysan and Dhi Qar 46°C; and Basra 47°C.



The statement further added that Thursday’s weather will remain clear across the country, with light to moderate northwesterly winds becoming more active in the central and southern regions, reaching up to 40 km/h and causing light dust. While temperatures will rise slightly in the central and northern regions, they are expected to remain similar in the south. As the week progresses, Friday’s weather conditions are set to continue the trend, and by Saturday, temperatures will rise slightly in the central and southern regions while remaining consistent in the north.
