Ways of promoting bilateral trade and investment relations between UAE and Iraq were discussed by officials from the two countries at the Ministry of Economy premises on Wednesday.
This came in a meeting between Abdullah Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of Foreign Trade and Industry, Ministry of Economy, and Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs in Iraq who is visiting the country along with an accompanying delegation.
The two sides reviewed prospects of launching more channels of communications between the private sector institutions in the two countries to utilise available investment opportunities and lift bilateral relations to a higher level.
Al Saleh underscored the importance of strengthening the private sector's role in accelerating trade exchange between the countries, affirming the UAE's keenness to launch significant investment partnerships with Iraq to the greater good of the two countries' people in line with the directives of the wise leadership of the country to support the development drive in all sisterly Arab countries.
The Iraqi minister, who is also the acting industry minister, stressed his country's keenness to learn from the successful knowledge-based economic model provided by the UAE, the country's endeavors to wean its economy off oil and enviable progress achieved across all business platforms.
