Baghdad:National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi has affirmed Iraq’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with the European Union and expanding cooperation and partnership in various sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Aboudi met with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Clemens Zemtner, to discuss ways to develop relations and enhance collaboration in areas that serve the mutual interests of Iraq and the EU.

During the meeting, al-Aboudi emphasized Iraq’s willingness to expand cooperation with the EU and its member states, particularly in political, economic, and security fields. He highlighted the importance of improving investment opportunities and supporting the investment climate in Iraq.

The discussions also covered Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s recent visit to France and Germany, where important agreements were made to strengthen Iraq’s relations with European nations and explore new avenues for cooperation.

Al-Aboudi stressed the significance of expanding economic and investment collaboration, benefiting from European expertise in development, reconstruction, energy, and technology, in alignment with the government’s program priorities. Meanwhile, Ambassador Zemtner reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to maintaining cooperation with Iraq and supporting the Iraqi government’s comprehensive reform efforts.
