Iraqi Meteorological Organization Predicts Dust Storms and Rising Temperatures

Baghdad: The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has forecasted increased dust and rising temperatures across the nation in the coming days. A statement from the organization highlighted the weather conditions expected for Wednesday, predicting clear and hot weather throughout Iraq. Temperatures are anticipated to rise slightly in the southern region, while remaining consistent with previous days in the central and northern regions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the maximum temperatures on Wednesday are expected to be 40°C in Dohuk and Sulaimaniyah, 42°C in Erbil, 43°C in Nineveh and Anbar, 44°C in Kirkuk, 45°C in Baghdad, Salah al-Din, Diyala, and Wasit, 46°C in Babylon, Najaf, Karbala, Diwaniyah, and Muthanna, and 47°C in Maysan, Dhi Qar, and Basra.

The weather is projected to continue being clear and hot on Thursday, accompanied by moderate northwesterly winds reaching speeds up to 40 km/h, potentially causing dust storms in parts of the central and southern regions. Nationwide temperatures will
see a slight increase, with horizontal visibility remaining very good at 8-10 km, though decreasing to 3-5 km in dusty conditions.

For Friday, the forecast indicates clear weather in central and southern areas and partly cloudy skies in the north. Winds are expected to be light to moderate from the northwest, again reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h and possibly causing dust storms in the south. Temperatures are predicted to drop slightly in the central region, stay the same in the north, and rise slightly in the south compared to the previous day, with visibility conditions similar to Thursday.

The statement concluded that Saturday’s weather will remain clear and hot nationwide, with temperatures stable in the central and northern regions and slightly lower in the south compared to Friday.
