Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani reinforced the significance of major oil companies, particularly American firms, in the development of Iraq’s energy sector. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting with Jeff Miller, Chairman and CEO of Halliburton, an American company specializing in oil and energy technology.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s priority in collaborating with major American oil companies to enhance energy sector capabilities, improve production efficiency, and fulfill strategic goals. He encouraged Halliburton to extend its service centers across Iraq in various engineering disciplines and urged the establishment of research and training centers to support technological advancement and human resource development.
Jeff Miller thanked the Prime Minister for his steadfast support and expressed Halliburton’s readiness to collaborate with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. He highlighted the company’s interest in signing a contract to develop the Bin Omar and Sindbad fields in Basra Governorate. This initiative aims to boost gas production, employ local Iraqi talent, and advance the localization of the oil industry.
