Gaza strip: The Israeli occupation army announced this evening, Monday, the discovery of the body of the last captured soldier in the Gaza Strip, Ran Gweli.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the military spokesman for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades stated yesterday that the Brigades had provided mediators with all available details and information regarding the body of the captured Israeli soldier, Ran Gweli.
He explained in a press statement that the occupation forces conducted searches at a location based on the information provided by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades to the mediators. The Israeli army stated in a press release that, following the completion of identification procedures by the National Center for Forensic Medicine, in cooperation with the Israel Police and the Military Rabbinate, army representatives informed the family of the abducted soldier, Ran Gafili, that his body had been recovered for burial.
The army statement indicated that Ran Gafili was a 24-year-old combat soldier in the police’s elite patrol unit (Yasam) and was killed in action on the morning of October 7, 2023. His body was transferred to the Gaza Strip. Since dawn yesterday, Israeli forces have continued extensive bulldozing operations in the Al-Sanafour area and around the Al-Batsh cemetery, accompanied by the exhumation of graves under the pretext of searching for the body of the last Israeli captive in the Gaza Strip, believed to be buried there.
Eyewitnesses reported heavy artillery shelling and gunfire from military vehicles, as well as sniper fire and drone strikes, resulting in several deaths and dozens of injuries among Palestinians.
