Baghdad: Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed announced that the federal government has committed to providing security guarantees for oil companies operating in the region. He also emphasized the need for budget allocations to resolve the ongoing refugee situation.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Ahmed made these statements at a press conference following his participation in the World Refugee Day ceremony. He disclosed that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Ziyadi assured the security of investment companies after a committee from the General Staff visited the region upon his directive, in collaboration with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

Ahmed stated that both the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government have reached an agreement to ensure the security of oil companies in response to their demands. He noted that joint efforts are underway to enhance air defense systems and protect oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region.

Regarding refugee issues, Ahmed urged the government to meet its commitments and allocate necessary funds to tackle the refugee situation. He appealed to the international community and the United Nations to sustain aid and invest in strengthening refugees’ resilience, highlighting the importance of shared humanitarian responsibility.

He also pointed out that the Sinjar Agreement remains unimplemented despite years since the Yazidi genocide, underscoring the necessity of creating conditions for the safe return of displaced persons through security and reconstruction efforts.

Ahmed reiterated that the Kurdistan Region remains open to those seeking peace and security and affirmed the regional government’s ongoing commitment to its humanitarian mission.
