Erbil: In a provocative statement, Masrour Barzani, Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), asserted that Kirkuk is occupied and must be returned to Kurdistan. Barzani made these remarks during the launch of the party’s electoral campaign in Erbil, which included participation from the party’s organizational offices in Baghdad and Kirkuk.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani highlighted that the situation in Kirkuk and other conflict areas constitutes a significant injustice against all components involved. He emphasized that the KDP will no longer tolerate this situation. Barzani expressed the party’s readiness to make significant sacrifices for the cause, stating, “We are prepared to sacrifice our blood and lives for Kirkuk, and the people of Kirkuk must know the truth.”
Barzani further declared that if Kirkuk were under the control of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, it would serve as a model of coexistence globally. He insisted on the return of Kirkuk and other separated areas such as Makhmur, Zumar, Sinjar, and Khanaqin to the national fold, emphasizing that no part of the land should remain occupied.
