Baghdad: The Midland Oil Company announced on Wednesday that it had signed contracts for the sale of oil and its pumping through the Strategic Pipeline and Basra outlets, while unveiling a plan to increase production and meet the needs of stations and refineries in the coming days.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the company’s Director General, Mohammed Yassin Hassan, stated that the Midland Oil Company was producing 160,000 barrels per day before the export crisis. Production was approximately 90,000 barrels per day in 2023 and increased to 160,000 barrels per day in 2025, highlighting that military tensions in the region had caused a decline in oil production.

He further explained that the company’s current production has reached 100 percent, and at times more, depending on the needs of stations and refineries. He emphasized the company’s ambitions to increase production in line with market demand and the sales of the State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO) in the coming days.

Hassan also mentioned that contracts have been signed for the sale of oil by trucks (tankers), with the company producing the oil and pumping it through the Strategic Pipeline or via Basra outlets. The State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO) will manage its sale.
