Baghdad: The Minister of Education, Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri, has issued a directive requiring all provincial education directorates to ensure that private institutes install and connect surveillance cameras in various parts of their facilities, including classrooms, corridors, entrances, exits, and common areas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directive emphasizes the importance of maintaining continuous surveillance during school hours, securely storing recordings, and performing regular maintenance on the systems. The recordings must be made available to relevant oversight bodies upon formal request. Al-Jubouri highlighted the necessity of this measure to safeguard the safety of students, teaching staff, and administrative personnel.

The Minister also instructed those educational supervisors and specialist conduct field visits to verify compliance with these instructions by private institutes. Necessary actions will be taken in accordance with established regulations. The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure a secure learning environment for both students and staff.
