Baghdad: The Minister of Trade, Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairi, confirmed today the stability of food prices.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry explained in a statement that Minister Al-Ghurairi met with the French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durial, to discuss enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. The meeting addressed the entry of French companies into the Iraqi market, highlighting its investment potential and attractive environment for investors.

The statement also noted that economic and trade developments in Iraq were reviewed amidst security challenges, as well as discussions on the current state of local markets and price levels. Minister Al-Ghurairi emphasized the Ministry’s efforts in monitoring market activity through inspection teams in Baghdad and other provinces to prevent unjustified price increases.

Minister Al-Ghurairi reassured that the Ministry has sufficient food reserves of essential commodities to maintain market stability and support food security. He highlighted the smooth flow of goods through land border crossings without obstacles. Additionally, the Minister mentioned the adoption of the ASYCUDA system at border crossings, which automates customs procedures, enhances transparency, and reduces corruption, thereby supporting a safer and more efficient investment environment.
