Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has approved a new policy allowing ineligible third-year intermediate and sixth-year preparatory students to participate in second-round exams. The decision comes as part of an effort to provide additional educational opportunities for students who did not meet initial eligibility requirements.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s advisory board, led by Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri, announced the approval during a recent meeting. The policy stipulates that ineligible students can sit for the second-round exams upon paying a fee of 50,000 Iraqi dinars per student. This opportunity is available exclusively to regular students and applies only to the current academic year. The decision is pending submission to the Council of Ministers for ratification.
Additionally, the advisory board approved measures for sixth-grade primary and third-year intermediate students who failed their first-round exams. These students will be allowed to retake the exams regardless of the number of subjects failed and will be eligible to participate in the second-round exams for the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative aims to provide these students with another chance to complete their studies.
