Baghdad: The Ministry of Education announced the launch of the third season of the national “A Nation That Reads” competition, in cooperation with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein. The competition aims to instill a culture of reading and develop thinking and creative skills among students and youth in various Iraqi governorates.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry explained that the competition targets students and youth aged 10 to 18, born between 2008 and 2016, regardless of their current studies. Participants must not have won first place in previous editions to ensure renewed opportunities for all.
The Ministry’s statement added that participation requires students to choose five themes from a total of eight available options and read two books from each theme. The Arabic language and rhetoric theme includes two books and one speech. The total reading required is determined according to these criteria. The competition themes include: Quranic exegesis, Islamic thought, ethics, philosophy and logic, Arabic literature and rhetoric, human development, artificial intelligence, and management and economics.
The Ministry of Education called upon all students and young people to participate and contribute to reviving the culture of books, so that reading becomes an integral part of the future of knowledge and creativity in Iraq.
