Baghdad: The advisory board of the Ministry of Education has voted to reinstate the retake system for sixth-grade preparatory students across all branches who fail one or two subjects in the 2025-2026 academic year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Education announced that the decision will allow eligible students to retake their exams in the 2026-2027 academic year. The ministry plans to release specific regulations and instructions regarding the retake system soon.

The advisory board clarified that this decision will not apply to students who are taking external exams.
