Ministry of Planning Reports Decline in Inflation Rates for November

Baghdad: The Ministry of Planning announced today a decrease in inflation rates on both the monthly and annual levels during November. The Ministry's official spokesperson, Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi, stated in a press release that the monthly inflation rate, according to field monitoring by the Statistics Authority, decreased by 0.5% in November compared to October. He added that the annual inflation rate also decreased by 1% compared to the same month in 2024.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hindawi explained that this decrease was influenced by a decline in prices across several sectors, most notably food and non-alcoholic beverages, which saw a 1.3% price drop. He noted that most other sectors also experienced price decreases, including housing, clothing and footwear, communications, goods and services, and entertainment and culture.

He added that some sectors maintained their price levels from the previous month, namely education, transportation, and restaurants, while prices for tobacco, household equipment and supplies, and healthcare saw slight increases. Al-Hindawi noted that inflation rates in Iraq continued their downward trend over the past six months, with the exception of September, which witnessed a slight rise in these rates.
