Baghdad: Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, has called for unity among Muslims and warned against those attempting to incite sectarian tensions.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr expressed his concerns over individuals he described as “spreaders of discord,” who aim to provoke sectarian strife between Sunnis and Shiites. In a statement on the X app, al-Sadr highlighted the exploitation of the current escalation in the Middle East by these individuals and urged the people, particularly in Iraq, to exercise wisdom and uphold Islamic principles of brotherhood.
Al-Sadr emphasized the importance of adhering to Quranic teachings, stating that the blood of a Shiite Muslim should not be shed by a Sunni Muslim, and vice versa. His call for unity comes at a time of heightened tension in the region, underscoring the need for solidarity among different sects within the Muslim community.
