Kuwait City: The Public Prosecution in Kuwait has ordered the detention of media personality Fajr Al-Saeed for 21 days, with the intention of referring her to the central prison. The decision comes in response to charges of insulting a fellow Arab country, marking the second such incident involving Al-Saeed in recent weeks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this legal action followed an official complaint lodged by the embassy of the country in question to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry subsequently forwarded the complaint to the appropriate authorities to undertake the necessary legal proceedings against Al-Saeed.

Al-Saeed is expected to appear before a detention renewal judge to determine whether her detention will continue or if she will be released pending trial. This development mirrors a previous incident from January, where the Public Prosecution detained her for similar charges. During that instance, she was accused of advocating for normalization with the Israeli occupation, a stance deemed harmful to Kuwait’s interests, as reported by Kuwaiti newspapers.

The earlier case against Al-Saeed arose from a complaint by the Ministry of Interior, which claimed she violated the Unified Law for Boycotting Israel No. 21 of 1964. This law criminalizes any form of engagement or advocacy for normalization with the Israeli occupation.
