Preparatory Meetings Set to Begin for 56th Session of Council of Arab Information Ministers

Cairo: Preparatory meetings for the 56th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, scheduled for September 14 and 15 in Tripoli, Libya, will begin next Sunday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the League of Arab States, stated that these preparatory meetings will include a series of working group meetings. These groups will formulate recommendations to be presented to the Permanent Committee for Arab Media and the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers for approval during the upcoming session in Tripoli. The meetings will focus on implementing and evaluating the “Media Action Plan Abroad” and the 29th session of the Permanent Expert Group on the Role of Arab Media in Combating Terrorism.

Khattabi highlighted that the discussions will also cover practical steps to support solidarity with the Palestinian people and promote the Palestinian narrative, particularly in relation to preserving the historical and legal status of Jerusalem. This initiative aims to engage in an open and persuasive discourse with the international community while fostering a culture of peace and rejecting violence and discrimination. Furthermore, the meetings will work towards enhancing the civilized image of the Arab world with contributions from various stakeholders, including states, organizations, professional associations, and civil society.
