Prime Minister Al-Sudani Announces Election Date as Pivotal for Iraq’s Political Future

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections scheduled for November 11, stating that it will be a pivotal moment for charting Iraq’s new political future.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani made these remarks during a gathering of the Shammar tribes in Baghdad, where he emphasized that reconstruction and development are national projects with a vision for a prosperous and stable Iraq, rather than mere electoral slogans. He underscored the coalition’s slogan, “Iraq First,” to prioritize the nation in services, development, and reconstruction.

Al-Sudani elaborated on the distinction between a national project and an electoral bloc, explaining that the Reconstruction and Development Coalition represents a culmination of political experience since 2003, aimed at addressing citizens’ needs and establishing institutions to safeguard dignity. He asserted that the coalition’s efforts over the past three years have resulted in tangible accomplishments, despite attempts to obscure these achievements.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the coalition’s candidate, Mohammed Jabbar Al-Shammari, describing him as a capable national figure dedicated to serving citizens. He urged active participation in the elections, warning that abstention could lead to a resurgence of failures and corruption, hindering Iraq’s reconstruction and development.

Al-Sudani reiterated the importance of continuing a policy that prioritizes Iraq’s interests over crisis creation, highlighting positive indicators for the Iraqi economy and ongoing reform measures. He pointed to the potential for over $450 billion in investment opportunities aimed at transforming the nation’s reality.

Concluding his address, Al-Sudani called on Iraqis to vote on November 11, affirming that the future demands service and work in recognition of the sacrifices made by the people.
