Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized that the principles of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) serve as a foundational element for the state’s reform initiatives and commitment to combating corruption. Al-Sudani’s remarks were made during a cabinet meeting held to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Ali.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister al-Sudani reflected on the tragic impact of Imam Ali’s martyrdom on the Islamic nation, noting that it marked a turning point where the path of truth in Islam faced challenges from the ideology of the Kharijites and acts of treachery. He elaborated that the commemoration of Imam Ali has become a symbol of truth and conscience in confronting these challenges.

Al-Sudani further explained that Imam Ali’s life in governance exemplified righteousness and the protection of people’s interests. The Prime Minister highlighted that the values and ideals left by Imam Ali guide current and future leaders in serving their country effectively. He emphasized the importance of distinguishing between virtuous and wicked individuals to ensure the sound execution of programs and achievement of goals, drawing inspiration from Imam Ali’s teachings.

The Prime Minister reiterated the commitment to uphold the legacy of Muhammadan Islam, of which Imam Ali was a prominent representative. He stressed the importance of Islamic unity and the creation of a just state where dignity and respect are preserved for all. He concluded by asserting that Imam Ali’s steadfast faith and principles continue to serve as a guiding criterion for the nation, even after his physical departure.
