Baghdad: September 30th will eliminate any justification for acting outside the framework of the state: Sabah al-Nu’man, spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, confirmed on Saturday that September 30 marks a transition toward full self-reliance and the management of the security landscape by national forces, he noted that this “Day of Sovereignty” would cement the concept of strategic parity in Iraq’s international relations and indicated that achieving sovereignty would eliminate any justification for operating outside the framework of the state.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Nu’man stated that “September 30th marks a strategic turning point in the history of the military and security establishment, embodying the practical transition toward full self-reliance and the management of Iraq’s security landscape by national hands.” He highlighted that this day showcased the readiness and operational capability of Iraqi security units and reinforced the concept of strategic parity in Iraq’s international relations. As a result, the armed forces are now solely responsible for ensuring stability and protecting the nation’s skies and territory.

Further emphasizing the significance of this transition, Al-Nu’man remarked that consolidating national sovereignty is fundamental to the strength and legitimacy of Iraq’s security agencies. When national leadership becomes the exclusive source of security decisions, any rationale for operating outside the state framework ceases to exist. This sovereign mandate empowers security institutions with robust legal and public legitimacy to combat crime, disarm unauthorized groups, and impartially enforce applicable laws, thereby ensuring the protection of citizens and safeguarding their rights.

He also noted that security agencies across their various formations have effectively transformed the concept of state authority into a tangible reality. They have successfully secured federal borders, eliminated terrorist strongholds, dismantled organized crime networks, and managed complex security issues across all governorates, including areas of shared concern.

Al-Nu’man concluded by highlighting the professional performance of the Iraqi armed forces, stating that they serve as the impenetrable shield protecting political decision-making and are the primary guarantor of Iraq’s national unity and stability.
