Supreme Committee Unveils Plan for Arbaeen Pilgrimage Management

Baghdad: The Supreme Committee for Million-Person Pilgrimages has announced the development of a flexible and comprehensive plan for managing the Arbaeen pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with a focus on transportation management and ensuring the smooth and unimpeded return of pilgrims.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell released a statement detailing that Lieutenant General Dr. Qais al-Muhammadawi, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and Head of the Supreme Committee for Million-Person Pilgrimages, led an expanded conference at the Command Headquarters. The conference was attended by various high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, the Commander of the Ground Forces, and representatives from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the Baghdad Operations Command. Additionally, commanders of operations in Karbala, Basra, Maysan, and Diyala participated via video conference to discuss the implementation of plans for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein.

During the conference, the latest security and service preparations were reviewed, and duties were assigned to specific areas of responsibility, with a focus on intensifying proactive intelligence efforts to secure the routes for pilgrims arriving from both inside and outside the country.

The statement highlighted that Al-Muhammadawi emphasized the importance of high-level coordination between security agencies and service and health departments to ensure smooth traffic flow, provide optimal services to pilgrims, and overcome obstacles to guarantee the success of the security and service plan for the pilgrimage.

The Deputy Commander of Joint Operations issued key recommendations, which included raising the level of readiness and vigilance at border crossings and routes leading to Karbala. He stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation with the owners of the Husseini processions and local authorities. Al-Muhammadawi noted that the preparation of a flexible plan for managing transportation and ensuring the smooth return of pilgrims is crucial, and that the concerted efforts of all security forces and supporting ministries are essential for achieving the objectives of the operation.
