Baghdad: The tribes of Dhi Qar announced their support for Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi's efforts to combat corruption, emphasizing that the rule of law and the authority of the state are essential and non-negotiable.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Hadam al-Saffah, head of the al-Bu Shama tribe, delivered a speech during the General Tribal Conference of the tribes of Dhi Qar. He stated that the gathering was based on national responsibility and legitimacy, affirming the tribes' historical and principled role in preserving the state's integrity. The conference aimed to take a firm stance dictated by Iraq's supreme interest and authentic values.
Sheikh Hadam al-Saffah highlighted that the strict measures and lawful arrests of high-ranking corrupt officials misappropriating public funds mark a commendable step. The tribes declared their absolute endorsement and full support for these actions, emphasizing that combating corruption is as crucial as the fight against terrorism.
He further stressed that Iraq's revival and health depend on decisively addressing corruption, avoiding selectivity, and resisting political pressures and compromises. The tribes of Dhi Qar, with their historical legacy and influence, pledged their social and national support to the Prime Minister, the Iraqi judiciary, and the security and oversight agencies in the effort to cleanse state institutions.
Sheikh Hadam al-Saffah concluded that the conference extends beyond mere support, adopting firm resolutions dictated by duty to God and the nation. The restoration of the state's authority and the rule of law is a primary focus.
